Fertility and Social Stratification - Germany and Japan in Comparison -

Abriss

Sowohl soziale Stratifizierung und Disparitäten als auch niedrige Fertilität nehmen in der gesellschaftspolitischen Debatte in Japan und Deutschland einen prominenten Platz ein. Diese Konferenz stellte eine Verbindung zwischen beiden Phänomenen her und fragte nach Wechselwirkungen sowie politischen Lösungsansätzen. Um der Komplexität der Aufgabe gerecht zu werden, trugen 25 WissenschaftlerInnen aus Deutschland, Japan und den USA Ergebnisse ihrer Forschung zu sieben Sektionen bei (siehe Programm unten). Zudem stellte die erste Ministerin Japans für Gleichstellungsfragen und Geburtenrate, die Liberaldemokratin Inoguchi Kuniko, ihre Sicht der Lage dar. Das Symposium wurde von der Japan Foundation finanziell unterstützt.
